As it has each year since Howard’s death, the Unitarian-Universalist Society of Bangor will host an event in Howard’s memory near the anniversary of his death. This year, the church is hosting a special service at 10 a.m. on Sunday, July 13.
The church used to host a memorial service in Howard’s honor, but changed the focus over time to feature discussions about issues that Howard would have been interested in. Last year, the topic was bullying. This year, the discussion will center around restorative justice, according to McKay.
Afterward, attendees will walk from the church on Park Street to the State Street bridge where Howard was killed to drop flowers into the Kenduskeag Stream.
