BANGOR, Maine — Challenger Executive Director Susan Jonason is pleased to announce that Kirsten Lundstrom Hibbard has joined the staff of the Challenger Learning Center of Maine as a member of the flight director team.
In addition to her excitement for science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) outreach, Hibbard brings her background in engineering and operations management to her new position at Challenger. She holds a B.S. in mechanical engineering from Georgia Tech. “Challenger is so powerful because it is an experience where students are transformed from young adults into NASA professionals for a day. I can literally see their confidence and pride increase as they accomplish a mission at the Center. I am proud to be helping to fulfill Challenger’s mission to inspire students in my community and state,” Hibbard reported.
Using space exploration as a theme and mission simulations as a vehicle, Challenger Center and its international network of 48 Challenger Learning Centers create positive educational experiences that raise students’ expectations of success, fosters a long-term interest in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, and inspires students to pursue studies and careers in these areas.
