The Town of Monson hosts an enjoyable summer event each year in the center of town. This year’s event will be held beginning on Friday 7/18 evening at 4pm, through Saturday 7/19, ending in a wonderful fireworks display at the ball field behind the gym at about 9pm.
The festival includes something for the entire family, a trademark of Piscataquis festivals; activities such as Main St. Craft Fair, Lake Hebron “Slate Man” Triathlon, Spectacular Field Games at the Monson ball field, a historical presentation at the Monson Historical Museum and the grand opening of the Appalachian Trial Information Center at the Community Center, young children’s games, a juggling show, lunch specials all around town, a “BBQ Swap Meat” & music at Spring Creek BBQ, the famous “Anything that Floats Race”, a cribbage tournament, an alumni social hour, and of course, a fireworks show!
“It is exciting to see normally quiet towns like Monson host an event of this scale, families enjoying one another, great activities, food and fun. The forecast looks great, I hope residents of Piscataquis and the surrounding regions will join us!” (Denise Buzzelli, ED, Piscataquis Chamber of Commerce).
