The 3rd Cash Mob Camden took place Monday November 19th with 37 mobbers gathering at Camden National Bank, sponsor of Cash Mob Camden, to learn which places they would be mobbing while enjoying complimentary coffee. Reusable tote bags from Camden National Bank were distributed and one lucky mobber received an extra $20 to spend. Brian Hodges, Camden Development Director, coordinates Cash Mob Camden. He shared the benefits and advantages of shopping and buying local. Some of these include that on average, 68 cents of every dollar spent in a locally owned independent business is returned to the community vs. 43 cents at a big box, chain establishment. Locally owned businesses tend to obtain their goods and services from other locally owned businesses. Also, a community rich in independent, locally owned businesses has a distinctive and unique character.
After providing the answers to a number of clues posted over the past few weeks, Hodges revealed the store being mobbed was Well Tempered Kitchen with an after party taking place at Graffam Brothers Harborside. Mobbers walked to the Well Tempered Kitchen and were greeted by the owner, Gail, who welcomed the mobbers with several specially priced items exclusive for them. Graffam Brothers Harborside offered a delectable assortment of complimentary appetizers and beverages for mobbers, as well as a discount card for a future visit at their restaurant. After making their purchases, mobbers walked to Graffam Brothers Harborside for happy hour and socialized. Also contained in the mobbers tote bags was a flyer and coupon for Fromviandoux, one of the mobbed locations from our first Cash Mob Camden.
