BANGOR — Fans of classic cars and all eras of motorcycles will swell the parking lot at Cole Land Transportation Museum on Saturday at 405 Perry Road on Saturday for the first Hot Rods and Heros show, with proceeds to benefit two local VFW posts.

Admission will be just $5 for adults, free for everyone under 19, with the show running 9 a.m.-4 p.m. May 3, said Terry Bean, commander of Whitcomb-Baker Post 4633 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Hampden. Every penny will benefit that post as well as Norman N. Dow-Isaac E. Clewley Post 1761 in Bangor.

The admission fee also will allow those attending to visit the museum itself, which boasts Indian, Harley and BMW motorcycles, as well as a rare antique REO and a Galaxie convertible from the 1960s.

The car show will award trophies in several categories.
