Calais Regional Medical Services (CRMS) is pleased to welcome Dr. Hatem Hatem to the OB/GYN practice.

Born in Syria, Dr. Hatem and his family moved to Florida in his teens. He has a very large extended family still in Florida. He and his wife, Dima, both come from the same small town in Syria, and after reconnecting years later, were married. Their family includes 2 year old John and a new baby is expected this winter. Dr. and Mrs. Hatem were looking for a nice quiet area, out of the city to become a part of and raise their family in. With the friendly people and great area, Calais seemed a perfect fit. In their downtime, the Hatems enjoy spending time with their son, and he likes watching sports while she enjoys reading and cooking. They both hope to take part in some of the activities around the area.

Dr. Hatem earned his Medical Degree from the St. George University of Grenada, West Indies. His residency was completed at the Newark Beth Israel Medical Center of Newark, NJ and the Atlantic Health System of Morristown, NJ. During his residency Dr. Hatem received the Chairman’s Acknowledgement Award, was Outstanding Resident and Senior Resident and was elected as Administrative Chief Resident during his last year. He trained in all aspects of OB/GYN care and surgery, including Da Vinci Robotic surgery, but says he really enjoys being able to perform laparoscopic procedures. “I was very impressed with all of the services and technology CRH has to offer for a small community hospital,” stated Dr. Hatem. “I am looking forward to working with the staff and meeting the patients of the CRMS practice.”

Dr. Hatem began seeing patients this week. To meet Dr. Hatem or schedule an appointment call CRMS OB/GYN at 454-3307.
