Calais Christmas House Tour rescheduled for Monday, Dec. 16

Due to snowstorm weather conditions, the Calais Christmas House Tour which features six homes and one historic building has been rescheduled for this Monday, Dec. 16, from 5 to 8 p.m.

Open for holiday visits are the following: The Leeman House, 57 Calais Ave., The Nixon House, 1 Peace St., The Purton House, 289 North St., The Tickle House, 62 Cedar St., St. Croix No. 1 Firehouse, 3 Church St., The Holmes Cottage, 523 Main St., and concluding with The Holmestead (home of the St. Croix Historical Society), 527 Main St. where everyone can gather for wassailing and refreshments. Winners of the business decoration competition, Christmas at Macy’s and 5th Avenue, will be announced at this time.

An extra bonus of the tour is a chance to see five upstairs rooms of the historic Holmestead decorated by volunteers of the community.

Tickets are only $5 and on sale at Artemis’s Attic, The Bank of Maine, Boston Shoe Store, Calais Bookshop, and through CDRC members. Tickets will also be available for sale at the Holmestead on the evening of the tour beginning at 5 p.m. For more information, call 454-3652.
