This three session series will provide you with the tools you need to develop a professional, influential business plan with a focus on the marketing and financial portion of your plan.
Session 1 – Intro to Business Plan
Thursday, October 2nd 9:00AM – 11:30AM
The Intro to Business Plan session will cover the purpose and elements of a plan that are suitable for securing necessary financing and evaluating the feasibility of the small business venture. The content includes business plan formatting and how to present key information to provide necessary credibility to any assumptions made. The session will cover both start up businesses and expansions of existing businesses and is designed to complement the separate and more in depth presentations in marketing and financial plans. This session will be presented by Ed Bigney and Derek Hayes.
Session 2 – Marketing Plan
Tuesday, October 14th 11:30AM – 1:00PM
The marketing portion of the business plan addresses four main topics: product, price, promotion, and place. It should address how you will get people to buy your product or service in sufficient quantities to make your business profitable, consisting of:
Market analysis, which assesses the market environment in which you compete, identifies your competitors and analyzes their strengths and weaknesses, and identifies and quantifies your target market.
Marketing strategy, which explains how you will differentiate your business from your competitors’ businesses and what approach you will take to get customers to buy from you.
Marketing and sales plans, which specify the nature and timing of promotional and other advertising activities that will support specific sales targets.
This session will be presented by Cíntia Miranda.
Session 3 – Financial Plan
Thursday, October 30th 9:00AM – 11:30AM
Whether your business is just getting started, or has been around for a few years, the financial section of your business plan is going to say a lot about your company’s value and how it expects to be profitable in the future. In this session, you’ll learn which reports to include in your business plan and how to address various subjects that investors will be interested in, including how you will handle collecting and paying bills, seasonal pressures, and other unexpected pressures that may affect your profitability. This session will be presented by Bill Dohmen and Domenic Efter.
