LAMOINE, Maine — Cottontail Cottage Rabbit Rescue at 21 Cottontail Lane,  Maine’s first and only licensed rabbit shelter, will be open 10 a.m.-3 p.m.  Saturday, June 22. The nonprofit organization has reached bunny lovers throughout New England and Canada. The shelter is run by volunteers and is dedicated to rescuing abandoned, neglected or surrendered rabbits and finds homes for them. Orphaned rabbits are provided with physical and social rehabilitation and sanctuary at the Bunny Barn, until they are deemed fit, to be matched with qualified adoptees.

The shelter seeks to educate the public on the care of rabbits, as well as the importance of spaying and neutering. Currently, the Bunny Barn houses nearly 40 orphaned rabbits available for adoption. For information, go to ccrabbitrescue.org or call 207-6640344 to set-up an appointment.
