BAR HARBOR — Learn to create an organic garden that attracts beneficial insects, during a presentation at the Jesup Memorial Library on Saturday, May 3 beginning at 11 a.m.
Gardening experts and authors Reeser Manley and Marjorie Peronto will be on hand with slides and expert advice, and copies of their book “The New England Gardener’s Year” for sale.
“Gardening success depends on insects, including pollinators and the many kinds of insect predators that keep the herbivores (plant munchers) under control,” said Mr. Manley. “Of course, to keep the beneficial insects around, the garden must also have a constant population of herbivores for the beneficials to eat.”
Come find out which “bugs” are which, and what good things they can for you.
