BREWER, Maine — David Wall is pleased to announce the honor parts for the Brewer High School Class of 2013. Commencement ceremonies were held Sunday, June 9, at the Collins Center for the Arts, Orono.
Connor M. Billings, son of Jerry and Prudence Billings of Brewer, has been named valedictorian. He will attend the Rochester Institute of Technology in New York majoring in engineering. Connor was a four-year member of Key Club, a two-year member of Se Beowulf and a member of the school newspaper staff. Connor has received the Florence H. Pierce Memorial Scholarship and the State Farm Companies Foundation Scholarship. In addition, he has been the recipient of multiple awards including National Merit Scholar, the Ohmart Science Award, and the Superintendent’s Certificate.
Ryan M. Ward, son of Dana and Paula Ward, has been named salutatorian. He will attend Bowdoin College in Brunswick majoring in economics. Ryan was a four-year member of the Mock Trial Team, Concert Band, Jazz Ensemble, and the Groove Factor. He was a three-year member of Se Beowulf and Student Council. Ryan was also a two-year member of National Honor Society and has served as a School Ambassador. He has been awarded the Gerald Robertson Memorial Scholarship and has been the recipient of several awards. Among those awards are National Merit Scholar, Superintendent’s Certificate, Perfect Attendance for Four Years, and All-State Concert and Jazz awards. Ryan has been a Boy Scout for the past eleven years and recently earned the rank of Eagle Scout. He has also been an active member of his church’s youth group.
