Aug 4 – Aug 9th

Sometimes great things come in small packages. Bowerbank, Maine is a great example of this. With a population of under one hundred-twenty, Bowerbank is home to many summer visitors who enjoy spending time at their summer cottages along Sebec Lake. It is quaint and peaceful, and normally does not get a lot of press. Every five years, however, that changes! Bowerbank Days is a six-day long event celebrating the town of Bowerbank. Last year, over three thousand visitors graced the streets!

Bowerbank Days begins at 5pm on Monday Aug 4th with a two-day Horseshoe Tournament at 205 Ram Island Rd., offering cash prizes for first, second, and third place. If an additional day is needed, the tournament will conclude on Wed. Aug 6th. Entry fee is only five dollars, and it is highly competitive and a lot of fun! To enter, call Gary @ 564-8168, David @ 564-0253 or Ken @ 564-7159.

On Thursday, Aug. 7th, the fun continues with a Foul-Shot Tournament at 5pm, also a five dollar entry fee. Adults receive cash prizes for first, second and third place in male and female categories and a brand-new basketball and prizes will be given to one male and one female winner for youth under the age of thirteen. To enter, call Ken @ 564-7159.

Friday, Aug. 8th kicks off with a baked bean supper with ham, coleslaw, rolls and a beverage. The highly anticipated silent auction begins at 5pm, and visitors can expect to find amazing prizes! The auction will end sometime between 2:00pm and 2:20pm on Saturday, by alarm. Friday’s activities also include the Bowerbank “Simply the Best” clothing sale, and raffle tickets for giveaways will be available throughout the evening. For those who love to dance, the festival will also include square dancing with Walter Lougee from 7pm-9pm on Friday evening!

On Saturday morning at 7:30am, registration will open for the 5KGary Wakeland Memorial Race, which will begin promptly at 8:30am. At 9am, those who will participate in the Bowerbank Days Parade will begin to assemble, as the start time of the parade is 10am. Following the parade, visitors can enjoy a free musical show starting with bag pipes and drums, followed by Dexter Brass and ending with the Stagecoach Band. At approximately 2:30pm on Saturday, the winners of the raffle, silent auction, and tournaments will be announced.

One of the most unique features of this festival is the mega Boat Parade, beginning at the boat launch at 5pm. All types of boats and floating devices will be exhibited in the parade – which makes it a “boat-load” of fun!

All-day activities on Saturday include kids’ games and prizes, train rides, clowns, caricature drawings, face painting/tattoos, arts and crafts vendors, a clothing sale, a used book sale, and there will be give-away prizes all day!
