More than 75 runners have signed up so far for the fourth annual Blueberry Cove 13.1, a scenic half marathon in Tenants Harbor that takes place Sunday, August 24, at 7:30 a.m.

The event benefits Tanglewood and Blueberry Cove 4H camps, and includes a pre-race dinner with the Ale House String Band and a post-race blueberry brunch.

Runners and walkers of all ages and abilities are welcome. The scenic course wends its way from Blueberry Cove past the village, Turkey Cove, end-of-peninsula Port Clyde, to Marshall Point Lighthouse, then along Drift Inn Beach and home to Blueberry Cove Camp.

All participants receive a porcelain medallion created by Peter Jones of Camden. Winners of age groups and overall winners will be awarded stoneware mugs created by Ann Goldsmith, director/owner emeritus of Blueberry Cove Camp.

Organizers believe this is the first half marathon ever held in the midcoast region.

All race proceeds benefit Maine children who attend the nonprofit camp, an arm of the University of Maine Cooperative Extension.

The race is capped at 300 runners, who must register by June 15. To register, visit: http://www.active.com/tenants-harbor-me/running/distance-running-races/blueberry-cove-13-1-2014?keywords=na
