Thanks to a major effort from private donors, local nurseries and Garden Club members, the Belfast Garden Club’s Green Thumb Annual Plant Sale brought in over $3,000.00.

The proceeds from the sale support a variety of club programs including: scholarships for higher education, maintaining beautiful Belfast public gardens, and garden-related books for the Belfast Free Library.

Committee Chair, Karen Meisenheimer commented on the high level of participation and support the community offers to the sale. “It is rewarding to work with so many people from Waldo County and surrounding towns. Their level of generosity and joy in sharing their gardening efforts makes for a most unique Plant Sale. The volume of buyers is amazing. The morning’s line-up filled the road to the Boathouse.” (see attached photo).

The Club has been in operation since 1929 and welcomes new members year round. The Garden Club always welcomes volunteer help to work with us in the city gardens. It is a great learning experience if you are not already a gardening pro and just fun if you are more knowledgeable. Join the club and come help us this season.
