GORHAM, Maine — The New England Society for Healthcare Communications (NESHCo) recently honored Diane Atwood with a Gold Lamplighter Award for her health and wellness blog Catching Health with Diane Atwood.
Atwood, a former health care professional and television health reporter, began writing Catching Health with Diane Atwood in 2011. Bangor Daily News now carries the blog and Atwood is a community blogger for WCSH6. In 2011, the Maine Public Relations Council recognized Catching Health with a Golden Arrow Award.
“I started writing the blog as a way to market a new freelance writing business, but it quickly took on a life of its own,” says Atwood. “I’m excited to see it grow and gain attention throughout New England. I love interviewing people, researching all things related to health and wellness and sharing information that might make a difference in someone’s life. In short, I love what I do.”
The Lamplighters were established in 1974 to showcase and recognize excellence in health care communications in the New England region. The 2013 competition included 385 entries from more than 86 organizations throughout the area. Entries were judged by the Carolinas Healthcare Public Relations Society and the Louisiana Society for Hospital Public Relations & Marketing. Awards were presented at NESHCo’s annual conference in Newport, R.I.
For four decades, NESHCo has served as the region’s premier professional development organization for communication professionals working in the health care industry. The Society is composed of nearly 300 members throughout New England.
