TITLE: BAY OF FUNDY INTERNATIONAL MARATHON SPONSORED BY BAR HARBOR BANK & TRUST – JUNE 23
Lubec, Maine– Bar Harbor Bank & Trust is sponsoring the first annual Bay of Fundy International Marathon being held on Sunday, June 23, 2013. This two-country, cross-border marathon will go from the easternmost point of the USA at West Quoddy Head Lighthouse to the northernmost tip of Campobello Island Canada at Head Harbor Lighthouse, and back to the USA to finish on Lubec’s waterfront. It is accompanied by a 10K race and a Community Fun Run. For more information or to find out how you can participate or volunteer visit www.BayofFundyMarathon.com.
The purpose of the event is to promote running as a healthy lifestyle, attract runners and their families and friends to the area as a stimulus to the local economy, and to build collaboration between the cross border communities. The event is also intended to attract support to selected local charities. For 2013 the official charity of the marathon is the Lost Fisherman’s Memorial. Bar Harbor Bank & Trust employees are hosting the hospitality tent at the finish line.
