TITLE: BAR HARBOR BANK & TRUST DEER ISLE BRANCH RENOVATION PROJECT BEGINS OCTOBER 7
Deer Isle, Maine– Bar Harbor Bank & Trust will be renovating their Deer Isle branch starting Monday, October 7 with completion expected in May 2014. During renovations, branch operations will be conducted from a temporary building located on the branch property at 25 Church Street in Deer Isle. Parking is available just beyond the branch to the south, on the Heanssler property. One handicap accessible parking space is available next to the temporary building.
Bar Harbor Bank & Trust’s temporary branch in Deer Isle will be open for business beginning October 7 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Friday. A 24-hour, walk up ATM will be available at the temporary building. The night depository is located on the back of the temporary facility, accessible via a lighted walking path. There will be no drive up service available at the temporary location. However, a “walk-up” window is located behind the building. Safe deposit boxes can be accessed during normal business hours, Monday-Friday, subject to the construction schedule.
“Bar Harbor Bank & Trust has had a branch office in Deer Isle since 1974. The branch began operations in banking trailer on the present property. The permanent branch was built in 1976 and added onto in 1994. Over the years, the Deer Isle team has been instrumental in growing the number of customers at this location, making it one of our largest, most successful and busiest branches. Consequently, we have outgrown the present building in terms of both physical space and configuration for the appropriate level of customer service. Therefore the Board voted to renovate this location as part of its strategic objectives,” said Steve Leackfeldt, EVP/Retail Banking & Operations.
The renovations of Bar Harbor Bank & Trust’s branch in Deer Isle will be significant. The entrance to the branch will be repositioned from the west side to the south side, allowing space inside for an additional customer service office. The bathroom will be made handicap accessible and security for the safe deposit box area will be improved. Outside, the parking lot behind the building will be expanded to accommodate a dedicated lane for a drive up ATM as well as additional parking spaces. Other improvements include a new roof, energy efficient windows, and an upgrade of all central systems including lights, security, HVAC and electrical. E.L.Shea is the general contractor.
