Bapst alum graduates summa cum laude from Duke University

Lucas Hubbard (Bapst ’10) graduated summa cum laude from Duke University in Durham, NC on Sunday, May 11, 2014. He was named to the Dean’s List every semester during his undergraduate career and was recently inducted into Phi Beta Kappa. Lucas earned High Distinction in his major, Economics, and his honors thesis (“Optimal Lineups in Penalty Kick Shootouts: An Empirical and Theoretical Investigation”) received an Allen Starling Johnson, Jr. Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Research as outstanding Honors Poster. Lucas was also a sports reporter/columnist for the Duke Chronicle and minored in Creative Writing. His original screenplay (“The Big Lede”) was selected for presentation at the 2014 Duke New Works Festival in April. Later this summer Lucas will begin his post-baccalaureate career as a business consultant at Applied Predictive Technologies, a “Big Data analytics” firm based in Arlington, VA: http://www.predictivetechnologies.com/

Lucas is the son of Jon and Marlene Hubbard of Bar Harbor.
