Bangor VA holds second annual barbecue

BANGOR, Maine — The second annual barbecue for patients of the Bangor Veterans Affairs Clinic and Home was held Wednesday, Aug. 13. The event, organized by Ray Dubois of Dexter, was attended by over 400 veterans, one of whom celebrated his 73rd birthday.

Music was provided by the band Sounds Unlimited, featuring John Plummer, a 3-year Vietnam veteran and lifetime member of the the Waterville Veterans of Foreign Wars. The barbecue was tended and cooked by Forest Breton of Belgrade and Paul Pontibrand of Waterville with the assistance of Lynn Dubois and Shane Ashe of Dexter. Barbecue workers included Debbie Pullen, John and Debbie Plummer, Mike and Carol Monegan, Rhonda Gordon, Bob Curtis, and Patty Rioux.

Several local businesses donated to the event, including the Waterville VFW.
