Bangor Daily News hires four sales specialists, selects marketing manager

BANGOR, Maine — Bangor Daily News has hired four sales specialists who will concentrate on the key advertising categories of automotive, health care, and financial, and who will serve advertisers in Southern Maine, Aroostook County, and Washington County. A marketing manager for the newspaper’s digital, print, events, and video components has also been selected.

Tim Kelly is the BDN’s automotive sales specialist. Based in Bangor, Kelly has handled sales for Philadelphia-based automotive re-manufacturer Cardone Industries, and sales and management for Atlanta’s Genuine Parts Company. His background includes positions at Peoples United Bank and MassMutual Financial Group. Kelly is a graduate of Husson University with both a BS and an MSB in business management.

Mark Hardin is the BDN’s Portland-based multimedia strategist concentrating on the health care industry. Hardin most recently was the marketing and sales director at MaineNewsSimply.com. His background includes television sales in Portland as well as advertising account director experience at J. Walter Thompson. Hardin earned a BA in public relations from Midwestern State University in Texas.

Todd Johnston is the new Aroostook and Washington county multi-media sales specialist for the BDN. Johnston most recently was an award-winning automotive sales representative at Darling’s in Bangor. He has also worked at Key Bank, O’Connor GMC, and MBNA. Johnston is a former US Navy aircraft carrier avionics technician and a US Army helicopter crew chief.

Darrell Gentry is the Bangor-based financial sales specialist for the BDN. His experience ranges from retail banking manager and loan officer to adjuster and small-business marketer. He worked for ABC Television in Los Angeles as manager of production services and as a studio supervisor. Gentry is a graduate of Utah State University where he earned a BS in broadcasting media.

Kate Bielinski is BDN’s new marketing manager. Bielinski’s background includes digital marketing, promotions, and events production positions at Philadelphia, Delaware, and Maine radio stations. She has had TV on-camera and print-reporting experience in Maine, and sales experience with MassMutual in Delaware and Bangor. Bielinski earned a BS in communications from Temple University in Philadelphia.
