BANGOR, Maine — Central Maine Derby announced that the group won first place for Outstanding Adult Group in the 2012 Festival of Lights Parade sponsored by Bangor Rotary. The parade was held Dec. 1 in downtown Bangor.

Central Maine Derby’s float featured “CMD’s Magical Skate Shop,” a themed float that included dozens of children dressed as elves working on skates. In addition, more than 20 skaters, referees and volunteers, including some on skates, dressed as elves and fairies and accompanied the float.

“As the newest roller derby league in the Bangor area, we were excited to have the opportunity to get our name out there and participate in the parade that we feel really kicks off the holiday festivities for downtown Bangor,” said Heather Van Dyne, a CMD league member said.
