PORTLAND, Maine — Baker Newman Noyes’ managing principal, Ellie Baker, and her husband, Tom Saturley, president and owner of Tranzon Auction Properties, were honored earlier today with the American Heart Association’s 2013 Crystal Heart Award for their continued support and promotion of the organization’s mission.
The 8th annual Go Red for Women Luncheon and Educational Forum was hosted by the American Heart Association at the Holiday Inn By the Bay in Portland. The goal of the luncheon was to educate the local community about women’s heart health and to raise funds in support of awareness, research and community programs to combat cardiovascular diseases among women.
Baker and Saturley are both very involved in the community and with many charitable organizations, including the American Heart Association. Saturley has served as auctioneer for the American Heart Association.
“Tom and I are honored to receive this award, especially here in our own backyard. We love Maine and strongly support all efforts to keep our neighbors healthy and to prevent heart disease, which is still the leading cause of death for women,” said Baker.
The Go Red For Women Luncheon is presented nationally by Macy’s and Merck and locally by Maine Goes Red statewide partner Harvard Pilgrim Health Care.
“Ellie and Tom are dedicated to their own heart health and to promoting healthier lifestyles within our communities, and we could not have been more proud to present this award to them today,” said Carrie Fortino, executive director for American Heart Association of Maine. “Women – mothers, sisters, friends – are dying at the rate of one per minute due to heart disease. We applaud Ellie and Tom for their efforts in combating this devastating disease.”
