Cathie Pelletier is the author of ten novels, eight of which are under her own name, beginning with “The Funeral Makers,” published by MacMillan in 1986. Under the pseudonym of K. C. McKinnon she wrote two novels, “Dancing at the Harvest Moon” and “Candles on Bay Street,” both published by Doubleday, the latter earning a million-dollar advance. The first McKinnon novel a CBS TV film and the second was a Hallmark Hall of Fame film.
As noted by the author, “The One-Way Bridge” is an unforgettable portrait of loneliness, family, and community-and the kinds of changes we make for love.”
The objectives of MBWW are to promote full participation and equity for women in the workplace; to publicize the achievements of business and professional women on the local and state levels; and to publicize the objectives and programs of BPW as they relate to business and professional women.
Maine Business Women’s Week, at the initiative of the Maine Federation of Business and Professional Women’s Club, Inc. and with the assistance of Representative Ruth Joseph of Waterville, the Maine Legislature in 1985 established the third week of October as Maine Business Women’s Week. Then president of BPW Maine, Jeanne Hammond spoke at the legislature hearing on February 14 of that year, a day when all women members of Legislature wore red carnations.
