August 24 Conference to Focus on Prison Reentry and Sex Trafficking

Bangor, Maine. Columbia Street Baptist Church in Bangor is hosting an evangelical insight conference on Saturday, August 24. At 3:00 pm, Rev. Fela Barrueto will conduct a workshop on prison reentry and aftercare ministries. Rev. Barrueto is the national coordinator for Prisoner

Re-entry and Aftercare Ministry at the American Baptist Home Mission Societies in PA and directs a national program for assisting citizens reentering society from jail and prison.

At the 6:00 pm Saturday evening event, Rev. Karen Smith will discuss her work with young women who are victims of sex trafficking in northern Thailand. Smith has been Executive Director of New Life Center Foundation in Thailand for 14 years, providing education, vocational training and therapeutic services to young ladies rescued from the sex trade.
