PORTLAND and AUGUSTA, Maine, and Manchester, N.H. — Bernstein Shur, one of northern New England’s largest law firms, announced that Katherine R. Knox has been elected by her colleagues to serve as a member of the firm’s board of directors. She has been appointed to a three-year term and joins other board members Joan Fortin, Jim Keenan, Pat Peard, Scot Draeger, Andy Volinsky, COO Julie Watson Boehme and CEO Pat Scully.
Kate Knox, shareholder, is a member of the Legislative and Political Law Practice Group. Her practice focuses on lobbying, campaign compliance and election law. Knox advises clients on all aspects of campaign finance laws, including government ethics requirements, political action committee formation and governance, ballot question campaigns, and she drafts legislation and administrative rules. She also represents a wide variety of clients before the Maine State Legislature.

A resident of Portland, Knox is recognized in Best Lawyers in America for her work in government relations. For her efforts in the historic passage of Maine’s Marriage Equality Bill, Knox was named one of Maine’s “up and comers” and in 2010 she was nominated as a “Partner in Pride” by the Maine Democratic Party. She is a member of the National Association of Women Lawyers and the National Association of Social Workers. Knox earned her JD from University of Maine School of Law, her MSW from University of Maine School of Social Work, and her BS from Skidmore College.
