Join us at Courthouse Gallery on Wednesday, July 16 at 6pm for an Artist’s Talk with R Scott Baltz. Baltz will discuss his new work, which is currently highlighted at the gallery in a solo exhibition titled “Nature’s Majesty.” The event is free and open to the public.

Baltz uses oil paint to create an intimate sensation of a world untouched by humanity. A landscape painter and devoted lover of nature, Baltz has managed to render the unspoiled essence of the natural world with his human hand. There is no evidence of people, structures, or industry in his paintings—not so much as a birdhouse or a buoy. Rather, the viewer finds themselves alone and at peace in Baltz’s compositions, in a way more soothing than lonesome, more animated than abandoned. His work has been highlighted in several publications, including “The Gettysburg Review,” Summer 2014; “Down East Magazine” 2013, 2003, and 1995; and two books, “Art of Katahdin,” by David Little and edited by Carl Little, and “The Art of Maine in Winter” by Carl Little and Arnold Skolnick.

Courthouse Gallery is located at 6 Court Street in Ellsworth. For more information and hours call 207-667-6611 or visit www.courthousegallery.com.
