The recently launched, interactive community website: http://www.ourMidCoast.com – promoting local independent businesses – has announced today, it’s second Cash-Mob in Rockland, will happen Thursday, Sept.27th.at 5:00 pm.
CASH-MOBS have have provided some economic stimulus to community-based businesses around the country during tough economic times. “It’s a simple, fun concept,” says Gordon Orme, founder of ourMidCoast.com. “A group gathers, each person with at least twenty dollars to spend, and “mobs” a local independent business. It’s an outgrowth of Flash-Mobs, the street-art events. After the shopping spree, the group then convenes for a ‘post-mob’ social time at a local tavern or restaurant. It’s a good opportunity to meet the neighbors and support community based businesses. The only three requirements to participate: 1) bring at least twenty dollars to spend; 2) meet some new friends; 3) HAVE FUN!”
“This time” Orme said,”everyone is invited to the after-mob party at Amalfi on The Water. Co-owner, Nancy Wood, is offering specially priced cocktails and pints from their ShagRock brewery, along with free “small bites.” There will also be a drawing for multiple prizes thanks to the generous support of other local businesses.”
Meanwhile. A community vote is underway to choose the business to be ‘mobbed’. . . the name is to be revealed at the meet-up location (TBA) on Thursday.
