Alton spring cleanup May 10

ALTON, Maine — Alton Spring Cleanup will be held Saturday, May 10. Acceptable items must be at the curbside by 7 a.m.

The town requests that all metals be piled separately from bulky waste piles. Mixed debris will not be taken. Carpet must be cut into four-foot sections, rolled and tied. Couches, mattresses and small amounts of sheet rock in bags will be accepted. Freon must be removed  from refrigerators, freezers and air conditioners before pick-up. Tires should be put in regular trash pickup two at a time, not in spring cleanup.

If you have any questions please call: Maine Waste Systems at 659-2381 or Alton Town Office at 394-2601, which is open 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Unacceptable items are: gas containers, propane cylinders and any metal that contains liquid, auto parts, tire rims, televisions, computers, microwaves mercury vapor tubes, wood waste.

There will be an electronic waste collection held in the fall for disposal of televisions and electronics.
