An accident has claimed the life of an Eastern Maine Electric Cooperative (EMEC) lineman. The Maine State Police have reported that electric utility lineman Mark Miles of New Limerick was found unresponsive near exposed power lines after responding to an outage call. Miles, 43, was transported by ambulance to Houlton Regional Hospital. A seasoned lineman, Miles had been employed by the Cooperative since September of 2012.

“Our hearts and our thoughts will be with Mark’s family, now and in the days and months ahead,” said CEO Scott Hallowell.

Eastern Maine Electric Cooperative is a not-for-profit, consumer owned electric utility serving approximately three thousand square miles of rural Maine in Washington, Aroostook, and Penobscot Counties.
