Acadia Community Theater presents “The Taffetas” Thursday, August 30th and Friday, August 31st at 7:00 P.M. at the Neighborhood House in Northeast Harbor. The Taffetas follows five singing sisters from Mount Desert Maine who have just landed their first big break singing live on the Ed Sullivan Show! Ok… so it’s really just a locally produced variety show in the style of Ed Sullivan – but to these girls it’s a big deal! It’s 1956 and these girls know all the hits! The humorous dialogue between the sisters as they sing through more than an hour of memorable hit’s from the 1950’s will warm your heart and make you chuckle, while the tight harmonies and sweet solos will melt your heart and keep your foot tapping. Fun for all ages, the Taffetas proves that some songs are truly timeless and that regardless of generation sisters will be sisters. Everyone will leave the Taffetas humming a tune and with a smile on their face! Tickets are only $12 for adults, $10 for seniors, and $8 for children. Desserts made by many local restaurants will be available for $5 at intermission. Tickets may be held by calling 801-1346. The cast is stocked with well-known local talent: Isabelle Simbari, Caroline Homer, Tatiana Curtis, Molly Damon and Danielle Shepard. It is directed by Brian Shepard, music provided by Vivian Hyde, and costumes were created by Stephanie Urqehart.
