A Night of Music to Benefit New Hope for Women

UNITY, Maine — Midcoast ensemble Tremolino will perform Portuguese fado music in a concert to benefit New Hope for Women at 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 31, at Unity College Centre for the Performing Arts, 42 Depot St.

Fado is a fiery, soulful folk style filled with passionate lyrics and mournful tunes. A quartet of Waldo County musicians, Tremolino features Leslie Stein, Jim Macdonald, Chris Marshall, and Doug Ronco. Tremolino will be joined by dancer Shana Bloomstein to present this evening of great food, drink, dance and music from the cafés of Portugal to the coffee houses of Greenwich Village. There also will be a silent auction of goods and services donated by local businesses.

New Hope for Women offers support to people in Sagadahoc, Lincoln, Knox and Waldo counties affected by domestic violence, dating violence, and stalking.
