Southwest Harbor Public Library will be showing two detective Charlie Chan movies, Charlie Chan in London (79 minutes) and Charlie Chan in Paris (72 minutes) on Wednesday evening March 26, 2014 at 5:30 pm.
In both of these films, Detective Chan is portrayed by Warner Orland, a Swedish born actor who claimed to have Mongolian lineage. London is directed by Eugene Forde. A young man is convicted of murder and sentenced to hang. His sister and finance believe in his innocence and ask Chan for help in finding the real murderer. Paris is directed by Lewis Seiler. After the London case Chan goes to Paris for a “vacation” but he is actually working for a London bank investigating a forgery. These are both early Chan films dating from the mid 1930s.
The films will be shown in the Clark Room and are free. For more information, call the Library at 244-706.
