Hardworking and affable pianist and SummerKeys founder Bruce Potterton will perform in the season’s 3rd Mary Potterton Memorial Concert on Wednesday, June 26th, at 7:30 p.m.
Mr. Potterton is also on the faculty of the Henry St. Settlement and the Turtle Bay Music School in New York, and studied with Sasha Gorodnitzski of Juilliard for many years. The following piano pieces will be featured.
“Barcarolle, Op. 14,” and “The Swan,” by lyrical Finnish composer Selim Palmgren; the 1775 “Sonata in G,” Mozart; and two enchanting Chopin works, the melancholic “Nocturne in C-sharp Minor,” and fiery “Polonaise in C-sharp Minor, Op. 26, No. 1.”
There will also be two ponderous preludes from Debussy’s “Preludes, book 1,” (Nos. 6 & 7); and a prelude by birdsong-inspired composer Olivier Messiaen, as well as “Novelette in E Minor,” and the cheering, river-like “Intermezzo in A-Flat,” by Francis Poulenc.
Hosted by the West Quoddy Lighthouse Keepers Association. This concert will be held upstairs in Lubec’s Congregational Christian Church. Concerts are free, but piano-tuning donations are always welcome. For information about SummerKeys, visit summerkeys.com, call 207-733-2316, or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
