Raider Rubber Duck Race

East Machias, Maine – Get on your mark, get set, QUACK! On Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012 as part of Washington Academy’s Homecoming weekend activities, the Class of 2013 will hold the Raider Rubber Duck Race. At 3:30 PM, 300 “adopted,” rubber ducks will race down the East Machias River to the finish line to benefit Project Graduation activities.

Each adopted duck will be numbered and entered into the Duck Race. The intrepid little rubber duckies will be tossed into the East Machias River and race down the rapids to the finish line by the bridge at the base of Academy Hill. The three ducks that cross the finish line first will win CASH prizes for their sponsors! The Raider Rubber Duck Race first prize is $100. The second prize is $50 and the third prize is $25.

People who are interested in supporting the Raider Rubber Duck Race can “adopt” a duck for $5 by contacting a W.A. 2013 class member or by calling W.A. at 207-255-8301. Duck sponsors do not need to be present to win. We hope that community members will “adopt” lots of ducks and come out to see the Raider Rubber Duck Race and enjoy a fun-filled Fall day!
