NEW GLOUCESTER, Maine — The Andrina Goodwin Foundation will host on Saturday, April 14 its first annual “AGF Benefit Show” at Amvets Lunn Hunnewell – Post 6, in New Gloucester. Doors will open at 7:00 p.m. and we are excited to kick the show off with Mike Bunker, Eastern Maine’s Connoisseur of Comedy. Mike has been featured at the Comedy Connection and other venues in support of a variety of charitable causes. He was especially moved by the life story of Andrina Goodwin and her courageous fight against cancer. As an added bonus, comedian Paul Hunt, semi-finalist in Last Comic Standing, will bring to the stage his extremely high energy of comedic performance. The comedy show will be followed by an exhilarating performance by one of the hottest bands in Maine, RIPTIDE! Based out of Windham, they are a band that everyone is talking about. Proceeds from the event will benefit those with cancer who have limited insurance and resources.

The following month, on Sunday, May 20th, the Andrina Goodwin Foundation will be participating as a team at the annual Hospice House 5K & Remembrance Walk in Auburn. The event provides an opportunity for family and friends to participate in a fun, healthy activity that honors the memory of a loved one and raises funds to support patient care at the Hospice House in Auburn. In 2010, 59 patients, who lacked adequate health insurance, were able to receive care that totaled more than $69,000 thanks to support from the community. Last year, the event raised $18,300 and had about 400 people participate. This year, the goal is to raise $50,000 and hope to have 1,200 people participate (adding 2 other locations – Farmington & Oxford Hills). A portion of the net proceeds from the “AGF Benefit Show” will be presented to the Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice during the event.

About the Andrina Goodwin Foundation

The Andrina Goodwin Foundation (AGF) founded in 2011, is a U.S. nonprofit organization dedicated to providing support, strength and perseverance to the fight against cancer. AGF supports awareness programs, education programs and support groups, and is aligned with like-minded groups and non-profits that advance the fight against cancer as well as those caregivers and organizations whose compassion, empathy and sensitivity are instrumental to providing emotional and physical support to patients and their families.

The foundation was established in honor of Andrina Goodwin, who on April 18, 2006, lost her heroic battle with cancer at the young age of fifty-seven. Andrina spent her last days at the Hospice House in Auburn, where they provided care and emotional, social, and spiritual support for her and the family during her end-of-life. This is a tribute by the family who witnessed first-hand Andrina’s courageous fight and generosity in giving back to her community and others who were faced with the disease.
