STONINGTON, Maine – Opera House Arts’ Shakespeare in Stonington Community Reads will be held 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 25, at Blue Hill Wine Shop, and 4-7 p.m. Thursday, June 26, at Stonington Public Library.

This year’s title is “Romeo and Juliet,” in preparation for the fully-staged, Actors Equity production July 3-20, at Stonington Opera House. This year’s production will run in repertory with the world premiere of a new play by Melody Bates, “R & J & Z” (Romeo & Juliet & Zombies) that takes off from Act V of Romeo and Juliet and asks, in Shakespearean verse: what would happen if Romeo and Juliet got a second chance?

Readings of the Bard’s text are held round-robin style and facilitated by Opera House Arts Critic-in-Residence Alicia Anstead, along with visiting scholar Margery Irvine. Participation is free; attendees are asked to bring a brown bag supper. Wine will be provided by Blue Hill Wine Shop.

R.S.V.P.s suggested but not required to info@operahousearts.org. For information, contact Opera House Arts at www.operahousearts.org or 367-2788.
