Carol M. Carew appointed Bucksport health center executive director

BUCKSPORT, Maine — Don Johnson, president of the Board of Directors for Bucksport Regional Health Center, is pleased to announce the appointment of Carol M. Carew, RN, BSN, MBA, as the Health Center’s new executive director.

Carol will take over from Jack Corrigan, who will retire after 30 years in the position.

Carol comes to the Health Center from her position as Chief Nursing Officer at Eastern Maine HomeCare, a subsidiary of Eastern Maine Healthcare which includes Bangor Area Visiting Nurses, Hancock County HomeCare & Hospice, and the Visiting Nurses Association of Aroostook. Since 2009, Carol has provided leadership and guidance for all clinical staff and operations for Eastern Maine HomeCare. Prior to this position, she served as Director of Bangor Area Visiting Nurses and Hospice of Eastern Maine, and was instrumental in aligning clinical operations under the Eastern Maine HomeCare umbrella.

Carol previously served as Chief Executive Officer of Healthways/Regional Medical Center at
Lubec, which consists of a federally funded community health center, a home health agency, a community prevention and education division, and a statewide telehealth network. In her role, Carol developed the first telepharmacy program in Maine, opened a satellite outpatient clinic, secured funding to integrate behavioral health into their primary care practice, and partnered collaboratively with the community to meet local needs.

Carol replaces John C. “Jack” Corrigan, who has served as Executive Director at the Bucksport
Regional Health Center since 1983. Jack’s record of accomplishments during his tenure is
impressive, including growth of patient visits from 6,000 to more than 26,000, securing grant funding
to support additional services, expanding the facility from 7,000 square feet to 25,000 square feet, and adding a dental practice that serves more than 2,000 children and 1,000 adults from 154 surrounding
Maine towns.

The Bucksport Regional Health Center is a community-based, board-governed, and federally qualified primary care facility, providing quality, affordable healthcare for all ages in the greater Bucksport area since 1974. Our staff is dedicated to helping each patient achieve and maintain good health by offering primary care health and dental services for adults and children.
We continue to grow to meet the increasing demand for medical and dental care in this region.
