2013 brings us much excitement here in Newport to celebrate the Native American heritage and culture once again. This years pow-wow will begin on August 31 and continue to September 2. We will have drums, dancers in regalia, flute playing, and a live auction. We will pay Tribute to our veterans and Armed Forces on Monday September 2 with flags songs and dancing. ALL veterans will be admitted FREE on Monday.
On Sunday September 1 we will pay tribute to our Host Anna “Sunlight” Littlefield who passed away September 18 2012. We’ll also pay tribute to a long time friend of the Pow-wow for if it wasn’t for Grandfather Arnie Neptune our pow-wow would have never started. 13 years ago Grandfather Neptune gave Anna Sunlight and Edward Littlefield his blessing to host the North Country Inter-Tribal Pow-wow on the land that had been passed on to the Littlefield’s.
This year we will have 25 vendors, including traditional Native American food made by Chinka and ice cream sold by The Big Ice Cream Bar. We’ll have several drums, special dances and raffles, some thing for everyone.
