BELFAST, Maine – The Senior College 10th Anniversary Festival of Arts Celebration, a “Non-Juried Exhibit”, is scheduled for May 10th thru 13th at the UMaine Hutchinson Center, 80 Belmont Avenue (Route 3 west). The artists are both amateur and professional, and live across the state of Maine.
Senior College is sponsoring an art exhibit from the students’ from RSU-20, K-12, in the Conference Room in the new wing at the Hutchinson Center. The entire festival is free to the artists and for the public. Our featured artist is Dorothy Alling, with her water color painting, “Loon Island”.
There is a preview mini-exhibit for the Festival, installed May 1 at the Chocolate Drop Candy Shop, 64 Main Street in Belfast..
Schedule of Events – Festival of Art:
• Thursday, May 10, 5:45 p.m. Ribbon Cutting Ceremony and Opening Reception; meet the artists from 6 to 8 p.m.
• Friday, May 11, Exhibit hours 9 a.m. – 9 p.m.
Fine Art Conservator Presentation: Blaikie Hines (South Thomaston) noon – 2 p.m.
How to Draw Workshop: Kerstin Engman- (Art Department Teacher at University of Maine Orono and lives in Liberty) 3-5 p.m.
Penobscot Bay Singers headlines the special performing arts Concert: co-sponsored by the UMaine Hutchinson Center 7-9 p.m. Friday.
• Saturday, May 12, Exhibit Hours 9 a.m. – 9 p.m.
RSU20 Student’s reception in new wing, 10 a.m. – noon.
Presentation by Carl Little: “Eric Hopkins and All That Jazz” 1-3 p.m.
• Sunday, May 13, Exhibit Hours are noon – 3 p.m.
The Senior College exhibit is curated by the Festival of Arts Committee.
