On the Issues

How do you propose the Legislature closes Maine’s budget gap?

Our budget stortfall is not from revenue shortages but poor management of that revenue. Priorities must be set. No new taxes are necessary.

Do you think same-sex marriage should be legal in Maine?

I believe it should be what the people of Maine want. If passed by the people I would not support any legislation to modify the results.

Do you support school choice?

Yes, the students well being and long term needs must always be the guiding factor.

Do you think Maine's school consolidation program has been successful?

No it was over sold as a big money saver. With a plan, better direction and guidance it could be successful long term.

It needs to be studied carefully to insure that we are providing for the truly needy residents of Maine.

Reduce taxes and increase educational opportunities that will increase our technologically skilled workforce.

Do you support lowering the state income tax? What state spending would you cut to make up for the loss of revenue?

Yes, cutting taxes spurs economic growth. It should be done slowly to allow growth income to replace lost tax revenue.

Are Maine's public assistance benefits too generous? How should they be changed?

Yes, our emphasis seems to be how can we get and keep people on welfare not how can we get them off.

What should the state do to lower energy costs?

Insure that the new natural gas pipe line coming to New England extends the length of Maine.Spread delivery costs more fairly.

The laws that we presently have seem to be working quite well.
