How do you propose the Legislature closes Maine’s budget gap?

The revenue requirement for our state to exist means that we must do several things to improve the situation. Of course we must create a desirable business climate and help promote the growth of businesses to ensure the people of Maine have an economic path to success.

Do you think same-sex marriage should be legal in Maine?

I am unsure why this question has not been answered already. I know that there are those who feel a legas status can exist between two people of the same sex while the definition of marriage does not need to be changed.

Do you support school choice?

School choice is what we do when as adults we want to pursue higher education and it would be unthinkable to try to restrict adults to geo graphic locations. The same consideration should be considered for our children with respect to their educational needs.

Do you think Maine's school consolidation program has been successful?

We need to involve the public more and again before we do something like this. The public is now engaged, lets do it all over again.

Do you think Maine should expand MaineCare as proposed by the president under the Affordable Care Act?

By expanding this program, I fear that more needy people will find it impossible to be supported. There are initiatives underway to remove those who should not be on this program while so many folks that are desperate for medical support are on the sidelines. We must fix this problem and take care of those most in need.

Fostering small business with state agencies and guidance are a must initiatives. Much has been done already to remove red tape inhibitors. Much more can be done also.

Lowering the income tax burden will also apply to the above question. Businesses will find Maine to be a good place to operate. These initiatives will help promote small business development.

Are Maine's public assistance benefits too generous? How should they be changed?

There are some who deplete our available assistance benifits that do not meet the requirements of recieving them but new initiatives are now under way that look out for this. Additionally, Veterans will now be screened and where appropriate assisted with Veterans benifits vice public assistance.

What should the state do to lower energy costs?

Maine has much natural gas and laws need to be passed to promote the development of this resource. Current requirements for the state to use wind energy at such a high cost is a factor in the cost of energy. This also factors a great deal into the business climate.

Should Maine place more restrictions on abortion?

I fall on the side of the child. This federal issue is one with no clear cut solution.
