How would you balance the federal budget/reduce the federal deficit?
Substantial spending cuts. Balanced Budget Amendment to Constitution forcing DC to balance its budget, like required by 49 states.
What steps do you support to reform Social Security and Medicare?
Save programs by raising age to receive benefits for younger workers. Less generous benefits for wealthy. No changes for current or near-retirees.
Would you sign a pledge to never raise federal taxes? Why or why not?
Yes. Career politicians are addicted to spending taxpayer dollars. We do not have revenue problem. $16 trillion debt because over-spending.
How should health care be reformed?
Repeal Obamacare that rations care, and raises costs/taxes. Replace with market-based solution, e.g. allow purchase insurance across state lines.
Do you support a woman’s right to an abortion?
If the life of the mother and the unborn child are both in jeopardy, the mother and her family and doctor should decide how to deal with such a tragic situation. The federal government has no place to make such a decision.
In Congress, would you support DOMA or legislation to allow civil unions or gay marriage?
I’m Catholic and believe in traditional marriage. States should decide these laws. The federal government should not infringe on this right of states.
Should the federal government have a role in K-12 education?
Education works best closest to home. Fine for federal government share data andrnsupport education standards designed by states.
What are the benefits of school choice? Vouchers? Should they be available for private and religious schools?
Students should have widest educational opportunities. School choice/charter schools advance those opportunities and competition will also reduce costs.
Do you believe climate change is happening? Do humans contribute to it? What should Congress do to address the problem?
Climate changes over long cycles. Everyone wants a clean environmnet. Congress should not stunt economic growth via huge carbon tax.
What should the country’s energy policy look like?
Allow full development of domestic energy resources: increase supply and lower gas prices. Many jobs created; improved national security.
