Navigating The Night Sky: Basics of Backyard Stargazing

BANGOR — Curious about backyard astronomy? Join the Challenger Learning Center of Maine for a free live event where you will learn the basics of successful stargazing, even if you do not own a telescope, at 8:30 p.m. on Friday, May 8.

 

Do you find beauty in the night sky and wish that you knew a little more about the universe? You can begin astronomy in comfort from your backyard. We will offer you an introduction to viewing the objects that appear after sunset. You will get information on how to view in comfort, the moon, planets and constellations.

 

Helpful sources of additional information will be available as well. If the weather cooperates you may be able to begin observing during the session. This class is for people and families that wish to begin a fascinating hobby.

 

Required:

Access to Zoom (smartphone, tablet, computer)

 

Pre-registration is required, please sign up at astronaut.org or https://www.astronaut.org/parents-public/public-events/family-night/ before 4 p.m. on May 7.
