ORONO — The Maine Human Rights Coalition Inc. will hold the 5th annual Black History Month Black Lives Matter Breakfast 8:30-10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, at Wells Conference Center, University of Maine at Orono.
Tickets are $20 adults, $10 for seniors 60+ and students and $8 for children. Tickets are available at the door or at the following locations: Wilson Center, 57 College Ave. Orono; Lone Radio, 861 Broadway, Bangor; Milfor Motel, 174 Route 2 East, Milford.
We will have a large Black History display covering the racism and discrimination against black people. The treatment that lead to the NAACP, Urban League and now the Black Lives Matter Movements. We will hear from a 96-year-old sister Mary Hunter, a long time civil rights leader. We will hear from elected officials as well. We will have a special tme to reflect on the death of Kobe Bryant, his daughter and others who were killed in California on Jan. 26.
