SOUTH PORTLAND — Join the National Business Institute on Tuesday, Dec. 10 for its seminar “Business Law: A to Z” and get up to speed on the most current and relevant business law topics. This intermediate level course is applicable for attorneys, paralegals, accountants and business executives, and will provide an opportunity to earn continuing education credits.
The course is divided into seven sections, highlighted by seminars led by Brann & Isaacson attorneys Kevin Haley and Jamie Szal. Haley will present on “Negotiating and Drafting Business Contracts (With Real-World Examples)” and “Buying and Selling a Business,” while Szal will lead a session on “Handling Common Business Tax Issues.”
Haley’s practice includes corporate law, commercial transactions, trademark and copyright matters, privacy and data security counseling. He works closely with businesses in Maine and around the country on corporate issues, including organization and strategy, mergers and acquisitions, commercial lending and other commercial transactional matters.
Szal’s practice focuses on assisting businesses in all aspects of state and local tax controversy, from regulatory and administrative proceedings through civil litigation. She also works with remote retailers of all sizes to evaluate their economic nexus profile, consider a sales and use tax collection action plan, and register with state and local tax authorities across the United States.
