BELFAST — Make Shift Coffee House will be held 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9, at Troy A Howard Middle School, Lincolnville Avenue.
Founded and facilitated by Craig Freshley, a Brunswick resident, Make Shift Coffee House is a venue where people of all political persuasions come together in a relaxed “coffee house” like atmosphere to discuss diverse issues and listen to and understand each other’s opinions and perspectives. Frequently, unique conversations unfold and opportunities for “civil” discussions arise.
The topic will be “What are American Values”? The event is free and light snacks and music will be provided.
This will be a three part series, with the second event in Searsmont on Nov. 6 and Searsport on Dec. 4. Please check website for details at makeshiftcoffeehouse.com.
Waldo County residents are asked to complete a survey before the first event to assess the “civility” climate in our community and there will be another follow up survey after the series at surveymonkey.com. Survey responses will be important in evaluating our community on these issues. However, the survey is optional and is not a requirement to attending any of the scheduled events.
