Grand opening of Thomaston bike trail

THOMASTON — Georges River Land Trust, in partnership with Sidecountry Sports, the Midcoast Chapter of New England Mountain Bike Association and Threshers Brewing Co., will host the grand opening celebration of the Oyster River Multi-Use Trail 12-4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28.  This is a free event and all ages are welcome to attend.

Participants are invited to gather at Threshers Brewing Co. at 1 Starr Street in Thomaston behind the business block, from which guided rides will leave at 12:30 and 2:30 pm. Sidecountry Sports will provide free demo bikes for kids and adults, and riders will proceed from the Threshers Brewing Co. parking lot to the Thomaston Town Forest entrance on Booker Street.

The Oyster River Multi-Use Trail in Thomaston is 5 miles long, and offers opportunities to explore on foot or by bike for adults, families, and children. Sidecountry Sports donated $10,000 to the creation of the trail, and NEMBA has provided volunteer support.

Threshers Brewing Co. will be open and serving beverages for purchase. Participants are also invited to bring their own lunch inside to enjoy.
