PORTLAND — The Gulf of Maine Research Institute will hold a repeat session of its Sea State Series 5:30-7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 29, at Commercial Street.
The program will relaunch with a discussion of Maine’s aquaculture landscape, as we invite local mussel, oyster, and kelp farmers in to discuss this growing industry alongside our staff experts.
GMRI staff experts will provide an overview of aquaculture in Maine. The overview will cover key species such as oysters, mussels, and kelp, aquaculture leases, industry obstacles, and the role of our organization.
We’ll be joined by Matt Moretti of Bangs Island Mussels. Bangs Island Mussels are hand-raised locally in the cool, clean waters of the Casco Bay.
Cost: $8 in advance, or $10 the day of the event.
