BANGOR — The Bangor Chinese School will hold the closing ceremony for its annual Startalk program 1:30 p.m. Friday, July 12, at Kominsky Auditorium, Husson University.
The Startalk summer student and teacher programs work to prepare Maine students for the future with Chinese language skills to meet the business and policy challenges in an evolving world. The Startalk Teacher Program also prepares teachers of Chinese with an array of teaching tools which include the proven principles of foreign language teaching, the goal is to prepare a cadre of fully prepared teachers to extend the teaching of Chinese language throughout Maine.
The Startalk Student Program provides 50 K-12 students an opportunity to learn Mandarin Chinese in a three-week program taught by experienced master teachers in four classrooms. Students are welcomed from all over Maine and other states. Those unable to commute daily are provided housing in the Husson dormitories. Students learn not only the Chinese language but culture and cuisine.
Students will demonstrate what they have leaned and do performances in Chinese at the ceremony.
