‘Chasing Coral’ screening and panel discussion

Event organizer: Jackson Chadwick
Event Date & Time: June 12, 2019 7:00 pm until June 12, 2019 9:00 pm

FREEPORT — Maine Conservation Voters will sponsor a screening of “Chasing Choral” 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 12, at 100 Main St. This Sundance award-winning film follows a team of divers, photographers and scientists on a thrilling adventure to capture why warming ocean water is causing coral reefs to vanish at an unprecedented rate. Free.

Following the screening, please join us for a panel discussion and Q & A to learn more about opportunities to take action on climate and protect our oceans. We are excited that Zack Rago, reef aquarist and long time scuba diver who is featured in the film, will be joining us via skype.  Zack will be joined by speakers from Maine Conservation Voters and Union of Concerned Scientist as well as Professor Steneck, a lobster scientist and coral reef ecologist.

This event is sponsored by Maine Conservation Voters and our colleagues at the Union of Concerned Scientists and Patagonia.
